This square-seated gui was excavated in 1925 from Baoji Duoji Terrace in Shaanxi Province. Gui was a vessel for serving food, and this square-seated gui is representative of the Zhou culture.

The ears on the sides of the neck and belly are in the form of animal heads and bird bodies, with pendant rings below. The neck, footrim, and each side of the square pedestal are decorated with phoenix and bird motifs, each in a different style.

The neck and footrim are decorated with a long crown and split-tailed bird, the upper edge of the square pedestal is decorated with two symmetrical pendant-tailed birds, the lower edge is decorated with a symmetrical long-tailed bird, and the sides are decorated with a standing bird of prey. The corners of the square pedestal are decorated with bull's head motifs, and the abdomen is decorated with a pattern of nipple spikes, with long, sharp nipples. There is a record of a phoenix singing at Qishan, which explains the Zhou people's preference for phoenix and bird motifs.

The inscription "JIA" on the bottom of the vessel is an example of the Zhou people's use of stem and branch names.
