The Longquan Kiln incense burner from the Song-Yuan period is not a typical piece and is relatively rare. During the late Southern Song to early Yuan period, Longquan Kiln was still able to produce pieces with excellent glaze quality. A typical example of this is the Longquan Kiln Four-Hole Double Fish Basin housed in the Shanghai Museum. Although the presence of floral decoration on the interior may lead to the piece being dated to the early Yuan period, it still demonstrates the pinnacle of Longquan Kiln craftsmanship from the Southern Song period. This suggests that determining the dating of such works is far more complex than one might initially imagine.

From a commercial perspective, many people tend to categorize pieces of slightly lesser quality as belonging to the Yuan period, while attributing higher-quality pieces to the Southern Song. While this is generally correct, it is not a 100% rule. High-quality Yuan period objects still deserve significant attention.
